A lot of places around the world, such as airports and train stations, have wireless Internet, so you should find somewhere to enable you to log on. Even if you're not running a web blog, you can always e-mail friends and family as you are going, or update your social networking profile. It's never been easier to keep in touch with people, this is why more and more people choose to take a
cheap mini laptop with them on holiday.
I wouldn't, however, bring my normal laptop with me. I have a small, low-spec laptop that does everything I need it to do, without being too fancy. It is small enough and light enough to carry without being a problem, yet cheap enough to loose without too much pain if it gets broken or stolen. A laptop could also be a life saver if something happens to your phone and you need to contact someone desperately.
One of the best things about having a laptop though, has got to be the availability of the web cam feature. You can literally talk to people face to face, whether it's with friends or family, or with business associates. It is like being with somebody, even though you might be on the other side of the world. What could be better?
